Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why am I getting sensor errors when I am logged out of the app?

When turning program events off on the phone and they revert to on, if there is no connectivity to the cloud, any changes made on the phone will be lost. This is the current expected behavior.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I customize the alerts I receive in the app?

You can customize which alerts you receive from kumo cloud by going to “Settings” and then to “Notifications”. Within Notifications, you can choose to either receive or opt out of push notifications for various alerts from kumo cloud. We recommend that you receive Error notifications. FILTER CLEAN/CHANGE

P-Series Wall-mounted Indoor Units

Download PDF Version

To order a replacement filter, visit the METUS store at: https://store.mehvac.com/s-1-filters.aspx

Clean the filters regularly for best performance and to reduce power consumption. Dirty filters cause condensation in the air conditioner which will contribute to the growth of fungi such as mold. It is therefore recommended to clean air filters every 2 weeks.

Make sure that the air filters are always installed during operation. Operating the unit without air filters can cause malfunction.

Removing the filters (see PDF version for illustrations)

Important:

  • Before you start cleaning, stop operation and turn OFF the power supply.
  • In removing the filter, precautions must be taken to protect your eyes from dust.
  • If you have to climb up on a stool or ladder to do the job, be careful not to fall.
  • When the filter is removed, do not touch the metallic parts inside the indoor unit, otherwise injury may result.
For PKA-A-KA7
  1. Using both hands, open the intake grille by pulling both the bottom corners of the intake grille. Then lift the filter until it clicks at the stop position.
  2. Once open, hold the knobs on the filter and pull the filter up. Then pull it out downward (located in 2 places, on the left and right.)
For PCA-A-KA7
  1. Open the intake grille.
  2. Hold the knob on the filter then pull the filter up in the direction of an arrow. To replace the filter after cleaning, be sure to insert the filter far enough until it fits into the stopper.
Cleaning the filters

Important:

  • Do not dry the filters in direct sunlight or by using a heat source, such as an electric heater: this may warp them.
  • Do not wash the filters in hot water (above 50°C, 122°F), as this may warp them.
  • Make sure that the air filters are always installed. Operating the unit without air filters can cause malfunction.
  1. Clean the filters using a vacuum cleaner.
  2. If you do not have a vacuum cleaner, tap the filters against a solid object to knock off dirt and dust.
  3. If the filters are especially dirty, wash them in lukewarm water. Take care to rinse off any detergent thoroughly and allow the filters to dry completely before putting them back into the unit.

Wireless Temp and Humidity Sensor (PAC-USWHS003-TH-1)

Download PDF Version

The Wireless Sensor uses a CR2477 coin battery.

  1. Remove the front cover by holding the sensor firmly on the sides and insert the edge of a credit card or a small, flat blade into the slit running along the edge of the front of the sensor. Once the card/blade is between the cover and the case, tilt it toward the sensor and the cover should pop off.
  2. Gently lift the electronic board from the case and flip over to reveal the battery compartment. Be careful not to excessively pull the wires attaching the board to the case.
  3. Nudge the expired battery out by pushing through the holes until it slides free of the compartment.
  4. Replace with a new battery, with the + positive side facing up, and the negative side facing the back of the electronic board. You will hear a faint chime/ringing sound as the battery is inserted. This will indicate that the battery has been installed correctly.
  5. Replace the board inside the case with the electrical components facing the open part of the case, and sitting securely on tiny pegs at the top and bottom of the case.
  6. Replace the cover, ensuring that the holes are aligned and press firmly until it snaps back into place.
  7. If the device was removed from a wall, you will need to acquire a dot or strip of double-sided adhesive tape to re-attach the Wireless Sensor to the wall.

Note: the small hole must be over the sensor or the device will not correctly sense temperature and humidity.

CONNECTIVITY

kumo cloud Internet Connectivity

Alert: Zone is offline. There are steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue. Show me how.

Wireless connectivity issues can be caused by any number of things, including your router settings, the distance to your router, signal strength and more. You can check the strength of your wireless signal to kumo cloud in the app. Go into “settings” and click on “system setup”. Then click on “Installer settings”. Once you SKIP or enter the Diamond Contractor PIN you will see a page with “My Home”. Click on a zone and you will see the signal strength for that zone.

CONNECTIVITY

Sensor Signal Lost

Sensor Signal Lost is typically caused by a proximity issue between the temperature and humidity sensor and the kumo wireless interface. The kumo wireless interface is connected to your indoor unit (in your wall mounted unit, for example). If you are able to move the sensor closer to where the wireless interface is located, you may be able to resolve this issue.

CONNECTIVITY

kumo cloud Server Connectivity

Alert: Zone is offline. The kumo cloud server is experiencing an issue. Please be patient as we resolve this issue.

The kumo cloud server may be down. However, you can still control your system via the kumo app connected to your router through a local connection in your home. Your phone and the wireless interface must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you are outside of the home and your phone is not on the same network as the wireless interface, you will lose the ability to connect and control your heating and cooling remotely until the cloud connection is restored.
